Awareness Walk Event
Empowering the Parkinson’s Community Through Education and Connection
Introduction
Parkinson’s disease is a journey that is shared not only by those diagnosed, but also by their caregivers, families, friends, and wider community. The Central Illinois Parkinson’s Support Group stands at the heart of this journey, offering an open and welcoming environment for people living with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, and relatives to find solace, understanding, and empowerment. This year, the Group is proud to announce a unique event dedicated to raising awareness and providing essential education: the Parkinson’s Awareness Walk, to be held at the River Plex Recreational Center in Peoria, Illinois, on Saturday, November 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
Unlike typical fundraising walks, the Central Illinois Parkinson’s Support Group’s Awareness Walk stands out for its commitment to education and community involvement. The event is designed to:
-
Boost public awareness of Parkinson’s disease and highlight its effects on individuals and their families.
-
Connect participants with valuable resources, including medical professionals, therapists, and support services.
-
Celebrate the resilience and courage of the Parkinson’s community.
